Base Coatings
There are various types of base coatings we'll use for you roof, depending on what will work best for your roof and situation. Our base coating is an acrylic based coating that fills in any grooves in the foam, resulting in a smoother finish. The properties of acrylic based coatings bonds well to various materials and when dry, you'll have a seemless waterproof roof. We typically contrast the base coating color to your top coating color. We do this so that 10-15 years later, when the top coating needs to be recoated, you'll start to see some of the base coating color through the top coating. So if your top coating is white and base coat is grey, you'll see a lighter shade of grey in a few spots on your roof when it's time to top coat again. Seeing the base coating doesn't mean your roof is bad or about to leak, it just means the top coating is wearing thin. Applying top coat at this point will prolong your roof life, allowing you to continue having a long lasting, waterproof, insulated roof.

Base coating with a layer of fabric between two coats.
In this picture, we're base coating the roof, then laying out a fabric that soaks into the base coat, bonding to the roof and fabric. This fabric adds strength and durability to the roof, something that may be needed if there may be heavy traffic on the roof. After we spray the base coating to the roof and lay the fabric in the basecoating, we then add another layer of base coating when it's dry. Once we do all this, we then spray on your top coating.

The coatings fills in the foam, which adheres to the foam like nothing else. This particular job, the owner wanted a black/slate color finished top coating. We have several colors to choose from in top coating, so no matter what you want, we can get it done.
